Marimecs designs new ferry for Het Schouw – Landsmeer crossing
Focus on efficiency
As with the existing vessel, the new ferry will be electrically powered, continuing the sustainable operation of this important connection. The design focuses on improved efficiency and greater transport capacity by increasing the deck lenght. This allows the ferry to carry three modern cars instead of two, accommodating the growing size of today’s vehicles.
Crossing over
the Noordhollandsch Kanaal
The Schouw–Landsmeer ferry connects both sides of this historic waterway in North Holland, which runs from Amsterdam to Den Helder. The canal is mainly used by recreational craft and small commercial vessels and forms an important link between the IJ and the North Sea.
