Good to know
Developed for Holland Shipyards and built for Schlepp- und Fährgesellschaft Kiel (SFK), this plug-in hybrid ferry supports the environmental goals of SFK and the city of Kiel as part of their long-term commitment to CO₂-neutral transport by 2050. The battery system enables fully electric sailing within the city centre, reducing emissions and noise in sensitive areas.
The interior design is equally important, as the ferry is not only intended to transport passengers from A to B but is also equipped for tourist day trips in the Kieler Fjord, offering a comfortable and sustainable experience on the water.
Marimecs was responsible for the complete design, including concept development, exterior design, naval architecture, general arrangement and structural engineering. The result is an efficient, modern ferry that supports SFK’s ongoing transition towards cleaner and more sustainable public transport on the water.
