Green Research Vessel for NIOZ

NIOZ asked Marimecs to develop a new ship for the sea research vessel fleet, to replace their outdated Wadden Sea research and support vessel RV Stern. Marimecs designed the new RV Adriaen Coenen as a smart, functional and green ship.

In close cooperation with all stakeholders an extensive list of requirements from not only Nioz but also the well-known university circle, was carefully considered. This resulted in a versatile research vessel design that focuses on usability, sustainability and excellent sailing characteristics to meet the shallow draught navigation profile the Wadden Sea area required.

Marimecs took care of the full scope of the design project, including naval architecture, construction and design.The ship will be built and delivered by Next Generation Shipyard in Lauwersoog.
